Our practice

Bellse Parese

Our practice is the only practice that offers early comprehensive rehabilitation to patients with Bellse Parese / Bell's disease. You will get positional therapy, exercise therapy, massage and acupuncture in one place with us.

The aim of early rehabilitation is to achieve maximum improvement in the work of facial muscles within the first few weeks to avoid residual symptoms. Therefore, it is important to start treatment on 7th-10th day of facial palsy.

Cause & prognosis

Previously, Bell's paralysis was assumed to be an idiopathic (with no known cause) paralysis of the facial nerve. About half of cases of facial nerve palsy are idiopathic. The mechanism for idiopathic facial nerve palsy is thought to be swelling of the facial nerve due to an immune or viral disorder. Current evidence suggests that these are common viral causes. Herpes simplex virus infection (most common) Herpes zoster (possibly the second most common). Other viral causes include SARS-CoV-2, coxsackievirus, cytomegalovirus, adenovirus and the Epstein-Barr, mumps, rubella and influenza B viruses. The swollen nerve is maximally compressed as it passes through the labyrinthine part of the facial canal, resulting in ischaemia (poor blood flow) and paresis.
